If this was done with Edius, then every window would be displayed in its entirety as a picture, with every feature or tool having a link to its appropriate page in the pdf.

In addition, the writers of the pdf need to use the technique found, for example, in the handbooks for video cameras where pictures of the camera have every feature and control linked to a page number. Or how about a separate alphabetical list of every tool or feature? (using the name given by its tooltip)
As an example of this, at present to find the function of the Set Group/Link Mode feature requires toiling through the Contents or flipping through the pages, since neither the full name nor Group nor Link appear in the Index. For example, the names of all the tools and features on the various Edius windows should be listed. The pdf itself could be greatly improved by increasing the number of references in the Index. I do something similar, in my business, as many business's do these days as this is where we are at present. I would imagine a small investment on Grass Valley's part is an acceptable business expense. However this only stenghtens the augument that Grass Valley, like others do, must put more work into video tutorials, particularly when there a number of work flow changes. I watched it, now several times, and I work very well with Edius 6, because I'm now aware of the work flow changes. The 90 minute tutorial outlines these and some of the new features. There ARE different workflows, so what, in Grass Valley belief, they needed to happen. I'm not sure I want to pay someone else to learn a product that I've just bought.įrom a personal point of view I find it quite amazing the concerns many have with Edius 6, it's my belief that many have not even looked at a manual at all.
EDIUS 6 TUTORIAL FOR BEGINNERS MANUALS
Yes there are downloads available ( I use the many on You Tube which I think is the 90 minute tutorial which I have placed on DVD) but I think the point here is, that in this day and age manuals are good, but we now have the ability to learn so much quicker ( and time is money) from tutorials, and as we pay good money for the product (which is worth every penny).
